PILATES

Pilates method – a care essential for your body

What is the Pilates Method?

Pilates method is a form of exercise, developed by Joseph Pilates, which emphasises the balanced development of the body through core strength, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful movement. The principles can and should be applied to everyday life.

At Bodycare Essentials, Maria uses a modern interpretation of the method that can be applied safely to a wide range of people from post-trauma rehabilitation to fitness for the ordinary body to fine-tuning of elite athletes. Modern Pilates can be for anyone who would like to be able to move with awareness and grace and sustain long term fitness.

Pilates has many benefits and can be used to:

  • Improve posture, co-ordination and balance
  • Increase muscle tone/strength/flexibility
  • Recover from musculoskeletal injuries
  • Address the special needs of the pre/post-natal woman
  • Address the needs of the pre/post-menopausal woman
